Hunter Donia, a Thrivers Society member since spring 2020 and salon suite owner who specializes in balayage and creating low-maintenance, beautiful hair color, knows exactly how you feel.
But if you stumbled across Hunter’s posts in the Thrivers Facebook communities, you wouldn’t know this positive voice who always jumps in to help with verbiage with tricky clients, cheer on other Thrivers, and share his bright, infectious light started his Thrivers journey feeling unsure of what he wanted out of this career.
We were lucky enough to talk to Hunter and ask him about his experience before Thrivers Society, how the program has helped him, and more.
Hey Hunter! Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us. Can you give us a little peek behind-the-scenes of what life was like for you before you joined Thrivers Society?
I had just moved an hour and a half away from my 5-year-career-long-built clientele to move in with my boyfriend and had to start rebuilding from scratch in a new salon.
I already had a very strong business mindset and the motivation to work very hard to build my clientele, but my consistent efforts weren’t getting me the results I was looking for.
I’d maybe get one new guest request a week, even after handing my cards out at the mall and posting on Instagram consistently.
I was super down on myself all the time and couldn’t figure out why all my hard work wasn’t working for me. I had very unclear and unfocused marketing skills…an unorganized vision of what I wanted in my career and how to get them.
What made you decide to join Thrivers Society?
I was searching for industry podcasts and found the Thriving Stylist Podcast. After listening to so many episodes of Britt’s podcast and being blown away by all of her ideas and philosophies, there was no doubt in my brain that Thrivers would be a fantastic investment.
So tell us what those first few months as a Thriver like?
It was during the pandemic quarantine. It was beautiful because I was able to focus on it and really work towards building my brand from the ground up and learning how to market myself successfully.
That’s so amazing. When did you start to really see progress or changes in your business?
After gaining confidence in my marketing and business skills through Thrivers, I decided I’d open my own salon suite after the quarantine in my state ended. I was in a commission salon previously and realized through Thrivers that having my own space would allow me to create the perfect funnel and guest experience.
How has your business changed since you joined Thrivers Society?
Britt has completely changed my life. I had a very strong interest and motivation in business prior to Thrivers, but didn’t have the tools to properly grow my business and understand how to scale.
Now that I have implemented it, I’m so excited for my future and cannot believe the results I’ve already been able to create for myself, like doubling my income, becoming independent, and walking on a confident path of consistent growth. I’m getting 3 new guest requests a week.
Ahh, we just got chills! Okay, so you know we’re big on mindset around here. How has your mindset changed since you joined Thrivers?
If I want something in my life, I have the tools to get it. My potential to create a gorgeous life for myself has been tapped into.
I’ve also realized how important it is to use my business to create a beautiful personal life for myself. The money comes after the flourishing of my health, life, and love.
We could not agree more, Hunter! Last question: Do you have any advice for anyone considering joining Thrivers Society?
Just do it. We so often have no problem spending $1500 on one technique class whereas Thrivers is a membership and system that allows you to unlock your greatest potential in your career and personal life.
