Anybody else find themselves super into productivity hacks right now? Or maybe insider glimpses into super successful people’s lives to get some inspiration? Maybe even just some new podcasts to try or recipes to whip up for dinner (because, we’ll be honest, we’re definitely a little tired of the meals on our dinner rotation).
Good news! We have a special guest on the blog today: The Thriving Stylist founder Britt Seva herself! We interviewed her about her favorite things (a.k.a., dinner inspo coming your way!), routines, and more, and she’s pulling back the curtain just for you!
What’s your morning routine like?
I’m going to be 100 with you: I don’t have the secret to pandemic/life balance in my pocket. I wish I did, but it’s fully been a case of trying different things for our family and seeing what works.
Here’s what my mornings look like right now:
-
Wake up at six am and work until seven.
-
Wake up the kids and dogs. Get everybody dressed and fed for their Zoom classes.
-
By 8 am, the kids are on their computers at our dining room table, which is now just a mess of workbooks, crayons, printouts, and Chromebooks.
-
Home school my kids until 10 am when my hubby takes over homeschooling.
-
Work from 10 am until noon.
-
Break to have lunch with my family. I haven’t taken a lunch break in 15 years before this pandemic. Having lunch with my family every day has been a true gift.
Do you have a wind down routine at the end of your workday?
I try to take time for myself to recenter so I can show up well for others. If I’m feeling overwhelmed, I make sure to find quiet time alone after dinner instead of my usual family time.
That sounds amazing! Okay, let’s turn to books. What are your favorite business books?
Books are my love language! If you ever need recommendations, check out #brittsevareads on Instagram because I post my favorites there!
I have a ton of favorite business books and love listening to them on Audible while I’m taking care of stuff around the house or driving. Here’s my top go-tos:
Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller
Fix This Next by Mike Michalowicz
Invaluable: The Secret To Becoming Irreplaceable by Dave Crenshaw
The Wealth Chef by Ann Wilson
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks
The Entrepreneur’s Solution by Mel H. Abraham
Talking To Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
Radical Candor by Kim Scott
A Happy Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron Gikandi
5 Gears by Jeremie Kubicek and Steve Cockram
Take The Stairs by Rory Vaden
What about non-business or guilty pleasure books?
Oh, absolutely! I loved these this books this year:
The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
And any guilty pleasure podcasts you loved this year?
These four, without a doubt!
Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations
Well, I’m pretty sure we all just loaded up our podcast feeds and Amazon carts! Can we talk about food? We’re all cooking at home more. What recipes are your go-to dinners?
We have four that have been heavy on the rotation:
-
Build-your-own salads
-
Joanna Gaines’ chicken alfredo pasta
-
White chicken enchiladas
-
Nacho tots
Yes…we love cheese.
Who doesn’t?! What cookbooks have you found yourself reaching for over and over this year?
Definitely Joanna Gaines’ cookbooks (first and second), Trisha Yearwood’s cookbooks (first, second, third), and Jessie James Decker’s cookbook.
Any food inspiration accounts you love on Instagram?
Yes! Nicole Washington (@brownsugarfoodblogger), Mary Smith (@maryswholelife), and Alex Snodgrass (@thedefineddish) have been major food inspiration for me!
Now we’re all definitely hungry! Thank you so much, Britt!
That was so amazing! Thank you again, Britt, for sharing your favorite routines, inspiration, and more with us today.
